SURVEYS TO EXTEND THE ROUTE TO ZANZIBAR:
Not only is IACC studying to extend its route to include Port Louis, Transmar is studying and taking into serious consideration to extend its services after Dar es-Salaam, the capital of Tanzania, to reach and include the island of Zanzibar in its Agenda. This is also according to the government of Zanzibar's request which reached Transmar via the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
After meeting with the Minister of Presidential Affairs in Zanzibar, Mostafa Al-Ahwal stated in an interview withthe Zanzibar Television that, as a businessman, implementing the government of Zanzibar's request to extend its Line to the Port of Zanzibar, is of importance on Al-Ahwal's priority list. Therefore, he added, this subject is under study at present.
In another interview on the same day, Mostafa Al-Ahwal, who also represented the EBA (Egyptian Businessmen's Association), restated his keen interest, on behalf of all the Egyptian businessmen, for developing more intensively commercial trade between Zanzibar and Egypt. He added also the ongoing study in implementing the extension of the shipping line to include Zanzibar, which would enhance positively mutual trade between both countries.
It is noteworthy to mention that Aly Ezz Eldin, our Commercial counselor in Dar Es-Salaam, accompanied Mostafa Al-Ahwal from Dar As-Salam to Zanzibar. Commenting on the flora and fauna, Al-Ahwal said that Zanzibar is a lovely country, with a lot of Arabian influence in the décor, and he concluded that he hoped Zanzibar would remain a member of the COMESA.
Heartfelt appreciation goes to H.E. Nagla El-Husseiny, the Egyptian Ambassador to Dar Es-Salaam, who, without her continuous support, the organization and success of Mostafa Al-Ahwal's last visit and trip from Tanzania to Zanzibar, would not have occurred.
